22: Havilah Cunnington | Stronger than the Struggle

Havilah Cunnington joins us on the show today all the way from Bethel Church in Redding, CA… She’s an incredible speaker, author, & mom to 4 boys, she’s been in full time ministry for over 20 years, & she’s the founder of a non profit online community called Truth to Table.

Guys, Havilah brings the HEAT today! We chatted all about her journey to finding her calling, bringing her dream to life through Truth to Table, and the heart behind her latest book: Stronger than the Struggle. We were SO impacted by our conversation with Havilah. Not only did she share insane amounts of wisdom from her journey, she also encouraged the heck out of us to lean fully into God’s calling for our lives. You will be so pumped up and encouraged after listening to this conversation with Havilah!  Enjoy!

QUOTABLE QUOTES:

“ I did not think I would be doing what I’m doing today. I had no plan to do this.”

“ I just prayed, ‘God, I’m not much, I have no special gifts or graces, but if you can use anyone, you can use me.’ ”

“ I just began to make decisions that aligned with what I had declared over my life.”

“ When you begin to live out the call of God on your life, you become very attractive in the realm that God is calling you to.”

“I had a conviction that my legacy could be around my kitchen table.”

“Alot of us are waiting to know what the plan is so we can have the conviction, but the conviction actually has to come first.”

“ If you’re looking for something you can’t find, maybe God’s called you to do it yourself.”

“ There are seasons where you just do thing that God’s called you to do over an over and believe God is at work, even when you can’t see it.”

“ It’s good for the soul to be normal….. to scrub a toilet, and fold some laundry.”

“ You’re not doing anything wrong if it feels like you’re going in circles. Sometimes life looks like the Jericho march. We don’t know when we’re gonna get the breakthrough, but we are going to get it!”

“It wasn’t the moment of breakthrough that trained the Israelites to be who they were, it was the journey. . . and a lot of times we miss that. We think, “When we have the best selling book, or when we have the platform ministry, or the marriage or the income, then I’ll feel validated, but validation doesn’t come from that moment. Validation comes from knowing who we are in the journey, not what we are at the end of it.”

“ You have a choice….. You can serve faith or fear.”

“ If we don’t deal with fear quickly, it grows into every area of our lives.”

“ Jesus didn’t die on the cross so we could be bound in fear and anxiety.”

“ When we come to Christ and the Holy Spirit comes to live within us, everything that was wrong is now made right. Our spirit was meant to hold God, like a hand to a glove, we were meant to hold the Holy Spirit within us.”

“ We have to take responsibility to get the truth inside of us and let the Holy Spirit will also resonate with it.”

“ The enemy likes to say, ‘You should… You should know better … You should BE better … You should be farther along….’ and it’s really a message of shame. ‘ Shame on you. You should be a better wife … You should be a better husband … You should be a better leader.’ Anytime I start to hear the enemy whisper ‘ You should…’ I just say, ‘No, no, no. That’s a message of shame. I am on my way. I am a child of God. I am a person of truth. I am on a journey. I am right on time. I am not going to miss a thing. I serve the God that holds time and space. I am not going to miss a thing; I am right on time.”

“There’s something about being able to look our kids in the eyes and say, ‘When God said do it, we did it!’”

“When God says go we go. When God says stay, we stay.”

“God can’t bless you if you stand at the threshold of your life, you’re going to have to make a move.”

“God is really good at slamming doors . . . Just step out and take the first step.”

“God has no problem confirming things twice.”

“Always make your bed”

“Be gracious and empathetic. You’ve never been here before. You don’t have to be an expert.”

“Give yourself grace and give others grace.”

“ Somethings can only be learned by mileage.”

“Give yourself time.”
